Conference of Presidents: Iran's Hegemonic Goals and Aspirations Towad Nuclear Weapons Capability Will Not Be Countenanced

New York, April 30, 2010 … As part of a broader effort to send a clear and unambiguous message to the president and other officials of Iran at the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty Review Conference, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations has contacted ambassadors of the member states of the United Nations and has placed ads in major newspapers on Monday urging the ambassadors to walk out when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rises to address the conference.

“The leaders of Iran who participate in the NPT Review Conference must understand the determination of countries that value democracy and freedom and oppose Iran’s hegemonic goals and aspirations toward a nuclear weapons capability. How ironic that the leading violator of the NPT and several Security Council resolutions would be allowed to speak and no doubt resort to the same vile accusations as in the past. The message from these ambassadors to Iran must be clear and unambiguous by walking out of the UN when Iran takes the podium,” said Chairman Alan Solow and Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein.
