New York, NY September 29, 2016 - - A significant number of American Jewish leaders have traveled to Jerusalem to participate in the funeral services for the late President and Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres.

Greenberg, Chairman and Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO of the Conference of Presidents said, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Shimon Peres, the last of the generation of founding leaders of Israel, a great friend, staunch supporter and partner in the work of the Conference.  His distinguished lifelong career devoted to public service was guided by an unwavering commitment to the ideals of Zionism and an abiding love for the State of Israel and all its people, and for Jews throughout the world.  

September 21, 2016…. Malcolm Hoenlein, on a brief trip to Israel, visited ailing former Israeli President Shimon Peres at Tel Hashomer Hospital to bring the prayers and well wishes of the American Jewish Community. He spoke extensively with President Peres’ son Chemi Peres and with his son-in-law and doctor, Dr. Rafi Valdan and recalled the long and intensive relationship between President Peres and the Conference of Presidents.  

Call for action: The Jewish community and friends of Israel are called upon to demand an end to the lopsided verbal condemnation and anti-Israel resolutions throughout the United Nations, from the General Assembly,to the Human Rights Council, to UNESCO, and the World Health Organization.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016 New York, NY… Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, spoke at the memorial ceremony for the “International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda,” in the United Nations General Assembly Hall on Monday, April 11, 2016. The ceremony was organized to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi.
